Go a little out of your depth and when you don’t feel that your feet are quite touching the bottom, you’re just about in the right place to do something exciting.
I feel like I come across advice like this so often in writing: when you feel trepidation, when you’re venturing into territory that feels intense and raw and unknown, that’s where you’re in the place where you’ll create something powerful. What do you think? I must admit, I’m not very interested in playing it safe. It wouldn’t appeal to me at all to write the same type of book over and over again. The risk-taking; the new territory is what makes it exciting for me.
