A Book Club Visit for The Ark

Last night I visited a book club of which I used to be a member, to talk about my new novel The ArkI love visiting book clubs – it is one of my favourite things about being a published author – it is always fascinating to me the variety of interpretations different readers will make about the world that you created, as well as the moral judgements about your characters’ actions. We talked last night about what type of apocalypse would be the most dreadful, the ways in which it might be worse to be inside a bunker or in the world outside, power structures in small communities, cult leaders, and whether the end justifies the means.

I also asked the gang to share one of the things they would miss most if they had to leave the world as we know it and spend two years inside a bunker.

What about you? What do you think you’d miss most? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

      1. And it’s a bit hard to tax people to maintain non-existent public services and infrastructure…(sniff)…

  1. I would have to agree with the person above who said sunlight. The sun is such an easy thing to take for granted. The other day I was walking outside on a chilly morning, and the sun was shining on me. That warm feeling on my skin just felt sooo good. I had forgotten about it.
